Buildings and Grounds
The latest version of Mernda Primary School was constructed in 2010. A beautiful new building replacing the old, but retaining the commitment to quality education it always has.
Our state of the art facilities are an amazing combination of both buildings and grounds.
Our school was one of the first to be built as part of the State Government PPP (Public, Private Partnership) initiative.
Under the PPP model, schools are financed, designed, constructed and maintained by the private sector to high contractual standards over 25 years, allowing Principals and teachers to focus on student learning, rather than asset management.
Our grounds consist of sustainable and water wise gardens that are designed around the natural landscaped and picturesque views of the mountains and original river red gum trees. Our facilities manager has done a wonderful job working with the community to create interesting and unique spaces. Our Frog Bog is a quiet area with a shallow pool, rocks and grasses. Children can wander along a brick pathway that includes an historical tour and journey of the names of past students and parents. They will also find fruit trees, vegetable and native flower gardens. All of the gardens are very different and are all on a similar scale to match the natural surrounds.
Our outdoor play equipment is designed to be both challenge and encourage our students to explore, develop and grow together in a safe setting.
Come along and experience firsthand the unique areas where learning takes place every day.
